The multilingual Footstep team love producing audio materials for projects large and small.
If you need audio to go with a course book or as part of an online project, let us know your requirements, give us an outline script and we’ll take care of the rest.
The Footstep team will book the studio and engineer, organise the casting, contract the voices and chaperones, handle licensing for children, get release forms signed, mark up scripts, direct the studio session, sort all the editing, create sound effects and liaise with you about listening copies, masters and all final delivery requirements. We can also compose and record songs if they’re needed as part of the course.
Basically, we’ll take the headache out of it!
We’ll always work with you to look at how to get the best results within budget and to hit your deadlines.
Bring us on board early in the planning process and we’ll help you plan and suggest different ways of approaching the audio.
Working with writers or editors new to audio? Let us run a workshop or provide some training to help everything run smoothly.
And we’re great at working with children and teenagers and key team members are DAB checked.
Below you’ll find a few examples of the thousands of hours of audio we’ve produced for English Language Teaching (ELT) as well as Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)and some lovely words from our clients.

I worked with Footstep when overseeing a Modern Foreign languages textbook series at Nelson Thornes. They are highly skilled audio producers with the knack of making everything look easy. They managed all aspects of our time-pressured projects, delivering the final product on time and within budget. I have never come across a production company with such a strong commitment to editorial quality.
I have used Footstep many times to create audio recordings for monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. They are a dream to work with – from organizing the right voice artist to delivering files. They are quick to communicate, a really friendly team and fun to work with.

Always professional making sure they respond exactly to the client’s brief. They are a dream to work with.
Former Commissioning Editor Macmillan Spain
I have worked with Footsteps in various contexts and guises – Government policy, creative projects, European networks – for over 15 years now. Whatever they do is characterised by great ideas, solutions to problems caused by ignoramuses like me, and a really innovative approach to video and teaching and learning. There must be some magic as we keep coming back.

Director of The Languages Company
I worked with Footsteps Productions to produce French-language audio for a series of IB French text books. Not being a native French speaker myself, it was important to me that the production studio I chose would collaborate with my French editor to source the appropriate voices and accents for the series. This was a concern I didn’t even have to raise – Colette truly was indispensable and she and my editor worked very closely throughout the process and the results spoke for themselves. The team were approachable, responsive and flexible all the way through and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Senior Project Manager, Cambridge Learning for Schools (UK & International)
As a freelance Project Manager, whenever a client asks for a recommendation for an audio producer Footstep Productions is my only answer. Colette and Andy make the audio studio a fun and efficient workplace. Their years of experience, and working with trusted voice artists, means that projects are delivered on time, with recording sessions never over running.
I have worked with Footsteps on a variety of language courses. They added value not only because they speak several languages between them, but were able to spot when a script wasn’t working and to help with a creative solution. It was always a pleasure to attend a recording session and be confident that it was in the hands of the best in the business.
It is always a pleasure to work with Colette and her team. We know we are in safe hands and will get a fantastic end result. Best of all, it is always great fun!
Footstep Productions brought to life our new ELT pre-primary course, Discover with Dex, through expert casting, engaging musical arrangement, and high quality audio production. We’ve very much appreciated their solution-oriented approach, creativity and expertise, and we think the course’s great songs are going to become firm favourites with our learners!
Dragons Teaching has worked with Footstep Productions for many years. We have found them always to be very flexible, helpful and professional in all our dealing with them. We have worked with them with our own products but also with third parties (exam boards in the main) and I know that our partners also find them to be a great team. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who needs voice recording services.
Working with Footstep Productions was our company’s first venture into the world of audio resource creation. Colette and Andy were so helpful and supportive, both during the recording session and in follow-up correction stages. I would definitely work with Footstep again if we need similar resources in the future.
Schofield and Sims
Footstep Productions have been amazing every time I needed a recording for our Macmillan books. Colette Thomson and the team have such a good rapport with the actors – whether they are adults, children or teenagers, that it is a pleasure to work with them. They produced great songs for our books taking into account the needs of our target audience. The audio recordings always go smoothly even during the pandemic! I am always confident that my recordings will go well when Footstep is involved. I whole-heartedly congratulate them for thirty years of good quality work.
Thank you Footstep Productions for your work on the British Council audio lessons. We’re very pleased with the results and appreciate the way the recording process was managed. It was a tight schedule and you managed to keep things well on track. We’re grateful for your efforts and I hope we can look to work together again in the future.
