In Natural Hazards – a four-part TV commission from the European Broadcasting Union – we travelled not for language learning, but for geography.
Volcano was shot on the East Caribbean island of Montserrat; Hurricane in South Louisiana; Avalanche in Galtür in Austria; and Earthquake in Kobe, Japan.
The programmes wove together state-of-the-art landcape animation, updates on current techniques of prediction and damage-limitation with powerful personal stories from those – young and old – who had experienced their surroundings and way of life totally changed by the unbelievable forces.
The series was screened in close to half the countries of the EU. Channel 4 (UK) commissioned longer versions for their C4 Learning slots
Commissioned by EBU.
